There is an issue with reseting you PIN number on Your TWIC card if it was issued to you on or before October 21, 2008.
Here’s a statement directly from the TWIC/TSA website:
If you were issued a card before October 21st:
The power outage that disrupted TWIC activations on Oct. 21, 2008 permanently damaged the equipment used to reset TWIC PINs. No data or personal information was lost or compromised. As a result, if you were issued a TWIC prior to this date and forgot your PIN, you will be issued a replacement card free of charge. In order to do this, please contact the TWIC Help Desk (1-866-DHS-TWIC) to open a ticket and receive further instructions. Once your replacement card is ready for pick up, you will be notified via phone or email (the option you selected during enrollment). At that time, you make an appointment for activation at www.tsa.gov/twic.
Note: In order to be reissued a TWIC, you are required to return your existing card. If the current TWIC is not returned, the request will be treated as a lost card which requires a payment of $60.
We are continuing to push contractors to get the TWIC card, and the Alabama Steel Coil Certification. I continue to see contractors miss freight daily because they do not have these credentials. We are also having to give some of this freight back to our shippers as well. On the right side of the blog, there is a Categories section, and you can click on those links to find more info on past blog posts about TWIC, and Coil Certification.
Our TWIC location here in Louisville is moving. If you have applied there, and you are waiting for your card to arrive, you will need to go to 4010 Dupont Circle, Suite 228, Louisville, KY 40207. The move will be effective on Monday, June 8th.
I have spoken with several contractors lately that have TWIC cards, and have never sent in a copy. If you don’t have a copy here in office, than you are probably not set up in the computer to be offered freight that requires the card. If you have any question, contact your coordinator to make sure we have a copy. If you have not already sent us a copy, please send one of the front and backof the TWIC card, to Libby Fagan. We are seeing more and more freight requiring a TWIC card, so if you have not applied, please visit www.tsa.gov/twic.
Currently over 800 of our drivers have their TWIC cards. Please don’t continue to miss out on freight! You can contact Libby Fagan, in our Louisville office to get some more information on how to apply. You can also visit www.tsa.gov, to get more information, and pre-apply.
